wood grips tightly fitted without any damage or cracks
Operating mechanism works smoothly to provide a positive lock-up on to the rifle

Background History:

The SVT-40 rifle was developed by Fedor Tokarev and adopted by the Soviet Red Army in 1940. Designed to give Soviet infantrymen rapid semi-automatic firepower, the SVT-40 was issued with a distinctive socket-style bayonet. These bayonets were carried in leather or canvas frog rigs and saw extensive frontline use in battles such as Moscow, Stalingrad, and Leningrad.
As a direct result of wartime use in service and postwar handling, mint instances seldom survive. Mint instances such as this one are highly prized among collectors because they represent both the state-of-the-art Soviet small arm development at WWII and a physical survivor of intense East Front combat.
Condition
It's in mint collector condition—with no rust or pitting or wear. Grips tightly fitted and clean; blade has an original wartime finish. It's one of the best pieces out available on the market.
